Bus Arsonist Caught on Video

Clear, high-quality images and video of a man setting a fire on board a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) bus recently helped police identify and charge the arsonist in record time.
 
The video captured by a March Networks mobile DVR system shows the man pouring combustible liquid on the back seats of a TTC bus and lighting it on fire. Following the public release of the video that same day, the man was in custody and charged with bus arson.

Every TTC bus in its 1,727 fleet is equipped with a March Networks digital video system. The video is used to deter assaults, theft and vandalism, protect the authority from fraudulent claims, and to provide law enforcement with critical video that can help quickly identify and prosecute criminals.
